Editions
There are multiple editions of eminec MYmap:
- Basic — containing the essential mapping features
- Standard — versatile, everything you need for mapping (equivalent in function: »Educational«, available to students and teachers via channel partners only)
- Premium — most powerful, fulfilling the most demanding requirements (equivalent in function: »Academic«, available to students and teachers at a reduced price)
- Viewer — display only; editing documents is not possible
You may use eminec MYmap »Viewer« permanently for free. You may evaluate the other editions for up to 30 days for free and without any obligations to find out whether the program fulfills your requirements. When time is up, you decide whether you want to delete eminec MYmap, convert it to the free edition »Viewer« or buy it. If you buy an eminec MYmap license you will get the right for permanent use of the current version.
You may copy eminec MYmap to your colleagues, friends and relatives without any qualms, as the program and your personal license are separated from each other.
System requirements
Your system must fulfill or exceed the following minimum requirements if you want to install and use eminec MYmap:
- Microsoft Windows XP (recommended), 2000 (recommended), Me or 98 operating system
- 30 MB free hard disk space (during installation)
- 256 MB RAM or more
- Pointing device (e. g. mouse or trackpad)
- XGA graphics resolution (1024 x 768 px) or better
- High Color depth (65 536 colors) or better
- Internet access (required for updates or collaboration only)
Installation
In order to install eminec MYmap on your system, you need the installation program. You can download the installation program from the Internet via www.eminec.com or use an eminec MYmap CD.
The CD is generally not required as all components can completely be obtained via the Internet. For multiple installations within a single organization, it is a good idea to provide the installer on an intranet server. If you need to install on a computer not connected to the Internet or intranet, burn the installer to a CD or order an eminec MYmap CD from eminec.
You need to be logged in with administrator rights in order to perform installation. (There is no difference between administrators and limited users in Windows Me and 98, which means installation is always allowed.)
Open the installer, and it will guide you through the process.
If the error message
- »NSIS ERROR: Installer corrupted or incomplete.«
appears or a window flashes up rapidly (just to disappear again), the installation program is damaged, e. g. by an incomplete download from the Internet or by a virus. Redownload the installer, and, as a security measure, check your computer for viruses.
Activation
After installation, eminec MYmap is not yet activated. Therefore, you need to start eminec MYmap, still logged in with administrator rights, and activate the program (except for the »Viewer« edition).
- If you would like to use the free »Viewer« edition, no activation is required. Therefore, click »OK«. eminec MYmap will then be configured as a »Viewer« for this session.
- If you would like to try out eminec MYmap 30 days for free, request a code (Internet connection required). To do so, select the tab »Free trial«, enter your e-mail address into the text box, and click »Get code«. We will then send you an e-mail message containing a code you should enter into the box »Code« and confirm with »OK«.
- If you have acquired a license for permanent use, select the tab »Licensed version«. Follow the two steps shown. In step 1 (Internet connection required) you will get a license file (PLF), which you may keep and reuse again and again. The PLF file is not linked to a certain computer; it configures your copy of eminec MYmap according to the edition acquired (»Premium«, »Standard«, ...) In step 2, open the previously downloaded PLF. Then click »OK« to complete activation.
If your computer is not connected to the Internet, you may request the code or the PLF from a different computer, too. Visit www.eminec.com, and click »Buy« > »My Licenses« to do so (also for your free trial).
If your activation has expired (this may happen if you use a trial license), eminec MYmap will again show an activation request when you open the program.
Updating
eminec MYmap is permanently being updated. The »Quick start« window and the »Help« menu (»Check for updates«) allow you to find out whether you are using the latest version. If this is not the case, you will automatically be transferred to the »Download« page of www.eminec.com, where you can get the latest version.
We recommend performing the check at least once a month. eminec MYmap does not check for updates automatically.
